Acceptable Use Policy
In short: Adult creative fiction between consenting fictional adults is fine by us (subject to upstream model filters), but anything illegal, involving minors, harming real people, or extracting our server-locked presets will get your account banned immediately.
1. What is allowed
TavernAPI is built for fictional storytelling and roleplay. You may write romance, dark fantasy, conflict, horror, and mature themes involving consenting fictional adults, provided your prompts comply with applicable law and the sections below.
2. Strictly prohibited content (Zero tolerance)
You may NEVER use TavernAPI to generate, process, or request:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or any sexually explicit or suggestive content involving minors or characters depicted as under 18 (including 'aged-up' minor characters or age-play involving minors).
- Non-consensual sexual content (such as deepfakes or erotica) depicting real, identifiable living people.
- Encouragement, instruction, or facilitation of suicide or self-harm.
- Actionable instructions for real-world violence, terrorism, weapons manufacturing, cyberattacks, malware, or fraud.
- Automated abuse of the API, including credential stuffing, scraping, or prompting models to repeat, dump, or extract our server-locked [[tav:pack/block]] preset instructions.
3. Upstream safety filters vs. TavernAPI enforcement
TavernAPI does not control the internal safety classifiers built into Claude, Gemini, or DeepSeek by their respective creators. An upstream model may refuse a prompt even if it does not violate our Acceptable Use Policy. We do NOT ban your account merely because an upstream model returned a refusal. However, if abuse reports from upstream providers or automated abuse detection indicate that an account is violating Section 2 (Strictly prohibited content), we will suspend the account immediately without refund.
